The National Basketball Association (NBA) has released statistical data regarding international basketball players on the eve of the 2026/2027 season.
İdman.Biz reports, citing the NBA's official website, that the rosters of the league's 30 clubs comprise 125 international basketball players from 43 countries and territories across six continents. Of these, 70 represent Europe.
The regular rosters of NBA clubs accommodate a total of up to 450 players – 15 per team. Thus, the 125 international basketball players account for approximately 27.8% of these spots. In addition, each club can sign up to two-way contracts for three players. In this case, the maximum possible number of players across all rosters reaches 540.
Notably, for the first time in the last 13 seasons, Canada has lost its lead in the number of international players to France. In the new season, 17 French and 16 Canadian basketball players will compete in the NBA.
Furthermore, the rosters of all 30 clubs in the league include at least one international player.
It is worth noting that the NBA regular season involves 30 teams divided into the Eastern and Western Conferences. Each club will play 82 games. Thereafter, the participants in the play-in and play-off stages will be determined.
All series in the playoffs, including the championship Finals, continue until one of the opponents wins four games.
