We dedicate our victories to the memory of our martyrs. Every victory of ours is dedicated to our martyrs.
"Report" reports that this was stated by Asgarxan Novruzov, the head coach of the national freestyle wrestling team, which won the U-17 European Championship in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, in a statement to journalists.
"The Armenian team was very strong in the 48 kg weight category. We held 6 meetings with this team, and we won five of them," said the head coach.
A.Novruzov recalled that they became champions this year, as they did last year:
"As last year, our goal was to become champions. You know that the team had become European champion. We wanted the sequence to continue. For the first time, the team became champion in 2022, and in 2023 we missed by one point. This year the situation was difficult. We fought with the Ukrainian team until the last moment. We had a training camp in the Khachmaz Olympic Sports Complex. We thank the Federation, the National Olympic Sports Committee, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports for creating this environment."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani youth freestyle wrestling team became the European champion. The Azerbaijani team performed successfully at the continental championship and won 6 medals. At the responsible competition, 3 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals were won. With this result, our national team, which collected 151 points, became the European champion again. Ukraine took second place with 144 points, and Georgia took third place with 116 points.
Let us remind you that under the leadership of head coach Asgarxan Novruzov and coaches Vahid Mammadov and Yashar Aliyev, Ravan Hasanzada (48 kg), Ruslan Alizade (55 kg) and Said Pashayev (92 kg) won gold, Hasan Hasanov (60 kg) silver, Ramal Mirhuseynov (51 kg) and Hakim Tagiyev (110 kg) won bronze medals.
