An open training session of the U17 national Greco-Roman wrestling team was held.
The preparation process, which took place in the wrestling hall of the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium, was watched live by the personal coaches of the national team members and federation officials.
More emphasis was placed on tactical and technical exercises during the training session, which was held under the leadership of senior coach Rafig Huseynov, coaches Kamran Mammadov, Zohrab Abbasov and Mushfig Mammadov. Personal coaches stated that such open trainings are useful and wished that it would become a tradition in the future.
R.Huseynov said the following about the progress of the training camp, the open training and the upcoming goals:
"We held a 10-day training camp in Uzbekistan. It was an important preparation for us before the "Victory Cup" tournament. The Uzbekistan national team is one of the best national teams in the world in the U17 age group. They have several wrestlers who are world and Asian champions. That is why it was important for us to hold a training camp there. We are working on the mistakes we discovered during that preparation process. The team is in optimal condition. I hope we will see the results of these trainings at the competition in Turkey.
The purpose of holding an open training session is for personal coaches to monitor the preparation level of their students.
During the training camps, we sometimes give the athletes 4-5 days of rest so that they can be with their personal coaches and work on their mistakes. When the work is at a high level in clubs and societies, the work of the national team coaches is also lightened. In this way, we get potential athletes. The road to the Olympic Games starts with these teenagers. We hope that we will see the results of these teenagers at the Olympic Games to be held in 2032, as well as in the following years. The leadership of the Wrestling Federation watched our training. They provide a lot of support both with inventory and financially. In general, everything is at a high level. This support will be a kind of impetus for us to perform successfully in future competitions".
It should be noted that the "Victory Cup" will be held on April 12-14 in Antalya, Turkey.
