It was reported that Ilkin Gurbanov, representing our country in the 63 kg weight category, defeated Turkish Enes Ülkü with a score of 6:4 and advanced to the 1/4 finals. Farid Sadykhly, competing in the 55 kg category, defeated Czech Filip Bartosik with a complete advantage (9:0) and qualified for the 1/4 finals.
In addition, Ravan Nuriyev, representing our country in the 77 kg category, lost to Belarusian Kirill Valevskiy with a score of 1:4 in the qualifying round. In the 87 kg weight category, Said Akhundzade lost to Romanian Patrick Iulian Gordan with a score of 5:9 in the 1/8 finals. In the 130 kg category, Aykhan Mardanov lost to Greek Achilles Chrisidis with a score of 0:3 in the qualifying round.
The European Championship will end on March 15.

In the qualifying round, Farid Sadygli (55 kg) will face Czech Filip Bartosik, Ilkin Gurbanov (63 kg) will face Turkish Enes Ülkü, Ravan Nuriyev (77 kg) will face Belarusian Kiril Valevski, and Aykhan Mardanov (130 kg) will face Greek Achilles Chrisidis. Said Akhundzade (87 kg) will compete against Romanian Patrick Yulian Gordan in the 1/8 finals.
Among the female wrestlers, Ruzanna Mammadova (62 kg) will compete for a gold medal. She will face Russian Amina Tandelova in the decisive match.
Nargiz Samadova (53 kg) will face Turkish athlete Şevval Çayır in the bronze medal match.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan has won a total of 10 medals in the competition so far. Ali Tsokayev (92 kg) and Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg) became European champions.
