Hitomi Obara, Olympic and eight-time world champion in women's wrestling, has passed away at the age of 44.
The World Wrestling Union (UWW) press service reported this, "Report" informs.
The cause of the Japanese athlete's death has not been disclosed.
It should be noted that Obara won the 48 kg weight category at the Olympic Games held in London, the capital of England, in 2012. In addition, she won the gold medal of the world championship 8 times in different years.
H.Obara, who was inducted into the UWW Hall of Fame in September 2022, was in the coaching staff of the Japanese women's national team preparing for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
