Khetag Gazyumov, head coach of the Azerbaijan national wrestling team, assessed the performance of our freestyle wrestlers at the U-23 World Championship held in Novi Sad, Serbia.
Idman.Biz reports that our freestyle wrestlers won 1 set of medals at the championship.
"We are very happy that we had a champion in this competition. We had been expecting this gold medal from Kenan Heybatov for a long time. It is also gratifying that our young wrestler Khetag Karsanov won a silver medal in the 125 kg category, which he recently moved to. Ali Tsokayev also marked his transition to 86 kg with a medal. We were also expecting medals from Jeyhun Allahverdiyev and Farid Jabbarov.
There were other national team members who could have won medals. Some made tactical mistakes. Others couldn't control their emotions. In 3 days, we will start preparing for the Islamic Solidarity Games. We will try to eliminate the mistakes and gaps we identified in this competition before the next competition," said Gazyumov.
