Head coach of freestyle wrestling Khetag Gazyumov spoke about the preparation process of the Azerbaijani national team for the VI Islamic Solidarity Games.
Idman.Biz reports that this was reported by the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation.
He said that the preparation is going according to plan and two training camps were held after the World Championship. "After physical training and strength-based training, we gave priority to tactical and technical exercises. We held test matches and reviewed the preparation level of the national team members. Thank God, we have no injured wrestlers," Gazyumov said.
The head coach added that the athletes have rested and the recovery process has been successfully completed: "We hope that we will live up to the expectations of the fans. Of course, an athlete cannot be at peak level all year round. But the Islamic Games are a big competition and in this regard there is no need for special motivation."
He also drew attention to the difficulties of the competition: "I hear it is very hot there now. So we have to fight the weather conditions as well. Of course, the main rivals are Iranian wrestlers. We also see the Bahrain and Albania teams formed from legionnaires, as well as the Turkish national team, as serious rivals. We analyze the opponents individually. We hope that everything will be fine."
It should be noted that the wrestling competitions in the Islamic Games will be held from November 18 to 21. Bashir Isazade, a first-class referee, will also be one of those representing Azerbaijan at the Islamic Solidarity Games.
