For the first time in 34 years, the prestigious "Grand Sumo" tournament in sumo wrestling has concluded outside of Japan, in London, the capital of England.
Idman.Biz reports that 40 of the world's strongest sumo wrestlers participated in the competition held at London's famous Royal Albert Hall complex.
Mongolian Hoshoryu Tomokatsu, who won all five matches, became the winner of the tournament.
This time, the organizers pleased the winner with unusual gifts to make the ceremony more festive - in addition to the traditional cup, Hoshoryu was presented with a giant "Hello Kitty" toy and a soy sauce bottle of the same size.
Since the total weight of the participants was more than six tons, before the competition, the organizers replaced the seats in the hall with reinforced structures and also strengthened the toilets.
It should be noted that the 2026 World Sumo Championships will be held in Baku. The exact dates of the competition have not yet been determined.
