Shahid Astanli Iqbal Ilgar oglu is one of our heroic sons who sacrificed their lives for the integrity and freedom of the Motherland, protecting our sacred lands with their blood and rising to the peak of martyrdom. From a young age, he grew up with a sense of loyalty to the Motherland, love for his people, and attachment to the land. Iqbal, who was always ready to defend the Motherland, stood out with his courage and bravery on the battlefield.

Iqbal Astanli was an example to his comrades until his last breath, leaving a deep mark in the memories with his fearlessness and patriotism.
Born on August 10, 1997 in Bilasuvar district, Iqbal showed great interest in sports, especially wrestling, from his childhood. Starting training from a young age, he always worked hard and quickly became the center of attention thanks to his ability, will and hard work. Iqbal, who achieved consistent success in his sports career, was awarded honorary places in many competitions. Therefore, his sports past played an important role in the formation of Iqbal's military skills.
The martyr's father, Ilgar Astanli, says with a feeling full of pride and sadness that Iqbal was a very agile, resilient and determined child since childhood. "Wrestling was his life. He would train day and night, he didn't know what it was to be tired. He won first place many times in district and republic competitions. Every time he came home with a medal around his neck and a diploma in his hand, my eyes would fill with tears of joy. I knew that this child had great strength, great love for the Motherland. He took everything seriously. He served in the reconnaissance unit of military unit N. His commanders often told me that Iqbal is a very brave, fearless and disciplined soldier. He carried out every task with great responsibility. When I heard those words, I was both happy and worried inside. He joined the fighting from the first day of the war. He had only three months left to finish his service... The endurance, strength and confidence he gained in sports made him fearless on the battlefield as well," says the martyr's father.

Iqbal Astanli, a serviceman of the Azerbaijani Army who participated in heavy combat operations in the direction of Sugovushan, was heroically martyred during the fierce battles on September 29.
