The World Badminton Federation (BWF) technical seminar on para-badminton has started at the National Gymnastics Arena.
Idman.Biz reports that about 55 representatives from more than 15 European countries - including para-badminton players and specialists in this sport - are participating in the international event, which will last until November 19.
The seminar is organized with the joint support of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS), the National Paralympic Committee (ARMPK), the World Badminton Federation (BWF), the Badminton Europe Confederation and the Azerbaijan Badminton Federation. Theoretical and practical sessions on the development of para-badminton, increasing coaching skills, classification of athletes and management of competitions will be held during the three days.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Secretary General of the National Paralympic Committee, Togrul Rahimov, and the Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Badminton Federation, Ramil Hajiyev, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of organizing the seminar in our country, and thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports for its support to this initiative.
The purpose of the seminar is to bring together national badminton federations and Paralympic organizations to expand the exchange of knowledge and experience in this field, and to promote the integration of people with physical disabilities into sports. Participants will get acquainted with modern approaches, new rules and training methods in the next 3 days.
In recent years, Azerbaijan has strengthened its position as one of the badminton centers in the region for this sport by hosting a number of international badminton events. This seminar also aims to contribute to the development of inclusive sports and para badminton.
