"I was very upset, I lived with this dream."
Idman.biz reports with reference to "Metaratings" that this was said by Russian figure skater Veronika Zhilina, the vice-champion of Russia in the individual competition among girls, commenting on the decision of the International Skating Union (ISU) not to allow her to change sports citizenship.
She confirmed the news that was spread: "Yes, I was really not allowed to change sports citizenship. I am very upset, I lived with this dream, I was preparing, but I am not giving up, I will wait and see when they let me go. This is already the third consecutive season that I cannot perform and have to miss competitions. I think everyone understands how difficult this is morally for every athlete. I thank everyone who supports me - my family, my coaches, the Azerbaijani federation."
It should be noted that the ISU Council meeting was held on July 4-5 in Lausanne. In May 2025, Zhilina announced that she had received an Azerbaijani passport. The athlete appealed to the ISU because the Executive Committee of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) did not give her permission.
