The "National Aviation Academy", the bronze medalist of the Azerbaijan Women's High League in volleyball, will not participate in European cups this year.
This was stated by the team's head coach Emin Abilov in an interview with "Report".
He noted that they came to this decision after discussions with the management:
"Participating in world championships, Olympiads, and European cups is the desire of every coach and club. Of course, we would like that too. But we have had discussions with the management, and we don't have such plans yet. We will prepare for the Azerbaijan championship. I hope that in the next seasons we will also participate in European cups."
The 37-year-old specialist said that the championship was intense and interesting:
"This year, there were intense and interesting games. Except for UNEC, the strengths of the other teams were almost the same. Our team fought well during the season and won important victories. "Absheron" finished the regular season first. They only had two losses. Both were in the game against us. We have a team that can play in the final. Unfortunately, one of our leading players was injured, and as a result, our strength decreased somewhat. Nevertheless, we fought well against "Azerreyl" in the semi-finals. Although we lost the first game, we won the return match. We only lost in the "golden set". We faced "Ganja" for the third place and won the bronze medal by winning both games."
E.Abilov stated that they will fight for the championship from the next season:
"Of course, this is not the end. We must further strengthen the team and fight for the gold medal next season. I thank everyone who contributed. The Federation organized the championship very well. The club management provided us with support and care throughout the season. I thank the fans, we showed them as beautiful volleyball as we could."
It should be noted that the "National Aviation Academy" won the bronze medals by defeating "Ganja" in both games in the fight for third place.
