PSG head coach Luis Enrique has undergone surgery for an injury sustained in a cycling accident.
According to Idman.biz, citing Estadio Deportivo, the specialist was taken to a hospital in Spain and underwent successful surgery. The Spanish coach's participation in the Ligue 1 match against Lens and the first Champions League match against Atalanta on September 17 is in question.
The accident happened as PSG were preparing to build on the success of last season's historic treble, including winning the Champions League. The Parisians have won all three of their opening Ligue 1 matches, but the coach's absence on the sidelines could affect the team.
Assistant Rafael Pol has already taken training with the players and will speak at a press conference before the game against Lens. The club notes that Enrique's recovery process will continue in Spain and his return to the substitutes' bench depends on medical advice. The coach's participation in the start of the Champions League remains a big question mark.
