Asahi Sakano, a 19-year-old who represented Japan in ski jumping, has died.
İdman.biz reports that, according to "Nordic Magazine", the tragedy occurred in early July in the Chuo district of Sapporo, Japan.
Although the details of the incident have not been disclosed, it is known that the young athlete fell from a window of a residential building. He was immediately taken to the hospital, but could not be saved due to the severe injuries he sustained.
Asahi Sakano participated in the Junior World Championships four times between 2022 and 2025. In 2023, he was part of the team that won a silver medal in the mixed team competition. In January 2024, he made his World Cup debut in Sapporo.
