The Council of the International Skating Union (ISU) has not allowed Russian figure skater Veronika Zhilina to transfer to the Azerbaijani national team.
Idman.biz reports that this was reported by TASS.
Earlier, the President of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR), Anton Sikharulidze, announced that the application for the 17-year-old athlete to represent the Azerbaijani national team was not approved by the organization's Executive Committee. It later became known that Zhilina had returned to the FFKKR the costs incurred for her in the last two seasons in the Russian national team – 1 million rubles (approximately 21.7 thousand manats).
Zhilina, who trains at the academy of two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko, missed the last two seasons due to health problems.
