"The tournament went very well."
This was stated to Idman.biz by Aleksandr Blinov, the head coach of the "Ocaq Sport" Club's hockey team consisting of players born in 2013-15.
He evaluated his team's performance at the "Galaxy Cup" international tournament in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The specialist said that the tournament was memorable with many positive aspects: "We prepared very seriously for the competition. We understood the responsibility of representing Azerbaijan. We worked a lot technically and theoretically in daily training. Although we had little time to prepare, we managed to do it. Despite the fact that our team was the youngest in the tournament and many players started playing hockey only 6-8 months ago, we won a bronze medal. Since this was our first competition, the main goal was to gain game experience, real games and contact with real opponents. We play a lot in training, but training and competition are completely different things. I rate the team's performance with "5+", our players managed to achieve a successful result".
Blinov also announced his future goals: "We have set big goals. There are already invitations to competitions in various countries. We are currently working on these options. The most important goal is to make the Azerbaijan national hockey team a member of the international federation and organize its participation in international competitions such as the World Championship and the Olympics. We understand that this takes time, but our current goals are precisely these".
It should be noted that our hockey players debuted in the tournament organized with the participation of 6 clubs.
