Idman.biz reports that this was stated to AZERTAC by Alimurad Hajizadeh, an Azerbaijani rower who won a gold medal at the "President's Cup-2024" regatta dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
The athlete, who climbed to the highest step of the podium in the 1000-meter race in a single kayak, said he was satisfied with his performance: "I did my best during the competition. My opponents were the athletes I faced every year. But despite this, this time I showed myself in a better light. I performed better compared to last year, demonstrating my skills."
He also spoke about his next goals: "We have the Slovak and Czech regatta, and the CIS Games ahead of us. We will do our best to prepare for these competitions at a high level as well."
It should be noted that Azerbaijani rowers finished the tournament with 15 medals.
