"We prepared at a high level for the championship".
This was stated to Idman.biz by Elchin Jamalli, a member of the Azerbaijani national chovkan team.
The captain assessed the team's performance at the European Championship held in Poland. He said that the fight was tense and interesting: "It was the first official European Championship we participated in outside of Azerbaijan. Six teams participated in the competition. Although all the games were held in a tense competitive environment, I would especially single out the game with Malta in the final. Since the decisive match was the last game, everyone wants to put all their strength and win. The opponent came very prepared. Nevertheless, we became the winning side."
Jamalli noted that the continuous holding of domestic competitions plays an important role in the success of the national team: "The mood in the team was good. Because we have competitions every week in the professional league in the country, we were able to gather the strongest athletes in the clubs. In general, the chovkan competitions held in the country had a very positive impact on our performance. Currently, the domestic championship continues. The European Polo Championship is expected in September. We are also planning to participate in a number of international competitions soon. Our goals are high."
It should be noted that 6 countries - Azerbaijan, Turkey, Hungary, Malta, Poland and Great Britain - participated in the European Championship. In the final game, our team defeated Malta with a score of 6:2. The Azerbaijani national team, which was remembered with a historical result, became the European champion for the first time.
