The world championship held in Lonato, Italy, was very intense for Azerbaijani karting pilot Davin Jafarov.
"Report" reports that the athlete stated this after the race.
He considered his result a great achievement:
"It was my first time participating in a competition of this level, on this track, and in the BMB category. Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to come here and participate in practice sessions before the race. 607 participants from all over the world in 5 categories participated in this difficult championship. The race was very intense, but I coped with it and reached the semi-finals. However, we had a small incident in the ranking and chassis problems, which forced me to start the race from 32nd place. As a result, I finished the race in 8th place by overtaking 24 opponents. It's really difficult to achieve this on a wet track, starting from so far back. I was able to pass 24 pilots in a 15-lap race, which is a very short time and difficult to do. Therefore, this is a great achievement for me and my team."
D. Jafarov also emphasized that the weather conditions were not favorable:
"Many other pilots and team leaders approached our tent to meet and talk to me. They were surprised to see an Azerbaijani driver participating at this level in international karting competitions for the first time and showing such a performance. There were world and European champions among the participants, and the weather conditions also made the race very difficult. It was an incredible honor and experience for me to show how strong we are and to represent my country. I am doing my best to prove how Azerbaijan can be at the top in motorsport worldwide, and seeing great support from my compatriots inspires me even more."
It should be noted that the young pilot finished 8th at the 24th World Karting Championship (World Grand Final) held at the "International South Garda" track.
