Within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in March 2025 between the Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency (AMADA) and the Polish Anti-Doping Agency (POLADA), a delegation led by POLADA's director, Michal Rinkowski, who is also the chairman of the Monitoring Group of the Council of Europe's Anti-Doping Convention, was on a working visit to our country.
Idman.biz reports that during the visit, AMADA's Executive Director, Tahmina Taghi-zade, met with the delegation. During the meeting, there was an extensive exchange of views on the obligations arising from the Memorandum of Understanding, directions for the development of mutual cooperation, and issues of common interest. The parties emphasized the importance of promoting a clean sports environment, strengthening awareness among athletes, implementing joint projects in the fight against doping, and conducting exchange of experience.
The meeting also discussed topical issues related to the application of international anti-doping standards, compliance with the requirements set by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), and the implementation of the Council of Europe's Anti-Doping Convention. In addition, the possibilities of organizing anti-doping trainings, developing laboratory capabilities, and implementing joint educational programs to support athletes were considered within the framework of future cooperation plans.
Then, the parties shared their concerns about the "Enhanced Games" competition planned to be held in Las Vegas in May 2026, which openly promotes doping, emphasizing that such initiatives pose a serious threat to the health of athletes and the principles of clean sports. It was specifically noted that such events are contrary to fair competition in sports and have a negative impact on young people.
The parties emphasized the importance of commitment to international anti-doping policy and noted the importance of strengthening cooperation in this direction at the regional and international levels. In conclusion, it was stated that such visits and partnerships will make a significant contribution to the promotion of clean sports values not only in the local but also in the international sports community.
