American motorcyclist Ricky Brabec lost the overall victory in the "Dakar" rally-marathon in the motorcycle category due to an unusual incident.
Idman.Biz reports that Brabec was leading the overall standings ahead of the final stage, 3 minutes and 20 seconds ahead of Argentinian Luciano Benavides. However, he faced an unexpected problem in the 13th stage of the race.
A herd of camels that appeared on the track restricted the American athlete's movement. In addition, Brabec made a navigation error in the final kilometers of the distance.
As a result, Benavides surpassed his rival by only two seconds to win the championship. This difference is remembered as the most minimal advantage recorded in the history of the "Dakar" rally-marathon.
It should be noted that the races were held in Saudi Arabia.
