Azerbaijani junior badminton players won gold and bronze medals at the "Serbian Youth International - Novi Sad 2025" international tournament.
"Report" informs that Omar Mehdi, our representative in the "G" group among 13-year-old athletes at the tournament, which was attended by 27 countries, advanced to the play-off by defeating his rivals from Turkey and Hungary.
Omar Mehdi won the gold medal of the tournament by defeating badminton players representing Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria in this stage.
In the mixed doubles competition of badminton players under 15, the tandem Faraj Karimli - Aysel Kazimova won a bronze medal. Our junior badminton players defeated their rivals representing Israel, Serbia and Turkey until the semi-final stage. They lost to Hungarian badminton players in the meeting for the final.
Omar Teymurlu-Ghandab Niftalizade, who competed in the same category, advanced to the 1/4 finals, but lost to Turkish badminton players one step away from the medal.
In the doubles category of 13-year-old female badminton players, Deniz Ahmadli-Fatima Ismayilova lost to their Serbian rivals in the match for the semi-finals.
It should be noted that 255 badminton players from 27 countries competed in 5 categories in the tournament, which lasted three days. In addition, our badminton players regularly participate in the "Serbian Youth International" tournament held annually in Novi Sad.
