In 2025, "Neftchi" Sports Club not only organized regular competitions in various sports among oil, gas and chemical industry workers, but also successfully worked towards training professional athletes.
According to Idman.Biz, the sports facilities operating in the club's structure during the past year involved more than 2,000 teenagers and young people, as well as hundreds of oil workers, regularly engaged in sports under the leadership of 117 professional coaches in 26 sports.
This was stated at the event dedicated to the results of the club's past year.
In 2025, the club organized tournaments in table tennis, backgammon, chess, 3x3 basketball, volleyball, swimming, archery, mini-football, beach volleyball, cycling, athletics, billiards and shooting at oil, gas and chemical industry enterprises included in the structure of SOCAR.
Based on the results of these competitions, the composition of SOCAR's national teams in these sports was determined, and these teams participated in each of the 18 competitions held throughout the year by the Ministry of Youth and Sports among employees of state institutions. Our representatives successfully performed in these tournaments and won a total of 26 medals in 14 sports, including 6 gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze.
SOCAR, whose employees confidently participated in all the tournaments organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports throughout the year, took second place among state institutions at the end of the year.
The club's athletes won 1172 medals, including 411 gold, 314 silver, and 447 bronze, in the VI Islamic Solidarity Games, the III CIS Games held in our country, European and world championships among juniors and youth, as well as adults, as well as other prestigious international tournaments, republican and capital-scale competitions.
The basketball team of "Neftchi" Sports Club took second place in the Azerbaijan championship in the 2024/2025 season and, for the first time in its history, competed in the group stage of the FIBA European Cup, finishing this stage with 9 points. The futsal team won a bronze medal in the Premier League last season.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Youth and Sports held the award ceremony for the winners of the year in various nominations at the "Sports Results of the Year" event dedicated to the sports results of 2025. "Neftchi" Sports Club took second place in the "Best Sports Club" nomination of the year.
The club's representatives - Jala Aliyeva was awarded the title of the best female athlete of the year, and Hasrat Jafarov was awarded the title of the best male athlete. Our other athlete, Isa Rustamov, was third among the best athletes of the year. It is gratifying that all three awards in the "Best Paralympian" nomination of the year were awarded to representatives of "Neftchi" Sports Club: Ilham Zakiyev took first place, Raman Saley second, and Kamran Zeynalov third.
