We will always be candidates to host international matches in Azerbaijan.
This was stated to "Report" by the sports director of the Azerbaijan Basketball Federation (ABF), Turgay Zeytingoz.
The ABF official said that Azerbaijan is one of the safest countries:
"Due to the current situation in Israel, the teams of this country do not play their matches at home. Turkish clubs also cannot accept the teams of this country for security reasons. Azerbaijan and Baku are one of the safest places in the world. We will always be candidates to host international matches in Azerbaijan. The fact that everyone was satisfied with yesterday's game is also an indication of this."
The sports director shared his thoughts on yesterday's meeting with FIBA Champions League officials:
"In general, the fact that the FIBA Champions League play-in match was held in Baku for the first time in history is a great event for Azerbaijani basketball. Officials said they were happy with the atmosphere here. We also watched a good game. They said they were satisfied with everything related to the organization. Azerbaijani basketball is developing. They also emphasized that they are ready to cooperate with us on every issue in this direction. The Champions League is currently considered one of FIBA's most important tournaments. The "Sabah" club competed in the qualifying stage of the competition this season. Our representatives will also be there in the coming years. We also shared our thoughts in this direction. We talked about our plans for teams from lower age groups. Our cooperation with them will continue. Azerbaijani basketball will win again."
It should be noted that in the FIBA Champions League play-in game held yesterday at the Baku Sports Hall, Turkey's "Aliağa Petkim Spor" team defeated the Israeli representative "Hapoel Holon" with a score of 82:81.
