He holds the record for the number of tournaments and matches he has participated in at the Ice Hockey World Championships.
The Swiss national team's forward played in the match against the Czech Republic (4:5) at the "2025 IIHF World Championship" held in Sweden and Denmark.
The captain of the "Davos" club updated the record he set in 2022 for the number of World Championships he has participated in. His compatriot Matias Seger (16 tournaments) holds the second place in this indicator. Ambühl first participated in the World Cup in 2004.
The 41-year-old hockey player is also a record holder for the number of games in the World Championships. The match against the Czechs was his 142nd match in the tournaments. German Udo Kiessling is in second place with 119 games.
The Swiss player has 66 points (28+38) in the World Championships and silver medals won in 2013 and 2024. He missed the 2018 tournament, where his team took second place, due to injury.
Ambühl had previously stated that the current season would be the last in his career.
