"This will be my fifth attempt in international competitions. Before that, I won gold medals at the European Cups held in Samorin and Guba, and a bronze medal in Tbilisi."
Idman.biz reports that this was said by Azerbaijani judoka Zeyd Alasgarov (60 kg), who will participate in the XVIII European Youth Olympic Festival to be held in North Macedonia and Croatia.
He aims to repeat his success in the European Championship he won two weeks ago at the European Youth Summer Olympic Festival: "I felt the atmosphere of the European Championship. I think it will be more comfortable for me to step on the tatami for the second time in the same place - in the same environment - a month later. This factor may have a positive impact on my performance. Our preparations are continuing at a high level. I believe that my performance at EYOF will also be successful."
It should be noted that the judo competitions of the festival will be held in the closed hall of the Jane Sandanski Sports Center in Skopje, North Macedonia. The Azerbaijani team will compete in the competition with 52 athletes (28 boys, 24 girls) in 10 sports.
