Zelim Tckayev, who was exempt from the first stage, defeated Jiangnan Wang (China) in the 1/16 finals, followed by Luan Almeida (Brazil). Our judoka also defeated Yun-Hwan Lee (South Korea) in the 1/4 finals. His opponent in the semi-finals was Tato Grigalashvili (Georgia). Having lost, Zelim will face Nugzari Tatalashvili (UAE) for bronze.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan is represented in the World Cup by 13 judokas (9 men, 4 women) in 10 weight categories in individual competitions. 8 of them have already finished their performance without medals. Our national team will also compete in the mixed team competition.
