"I am very happy to have won bronze at the World Championships."
Idman.biz reports that this was said by Zelim Kotsoyev (100 kg), bronze medalist of the World Championships held in Budapest.
The Paris-2024 Olympic Games contender commented on his defeat in the 1/4 finals: "I came here to win a gold medal and defend the title I won last year. Unfortunately, my dream did not come true. I lost in the 1/4 finals due to my own mistake. I was also a victim of some complacency in the match with my opponent. But I am very happy that I did not leave the World Championships without a medal."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team judoka lost to Arman Adamyan (IJF) in the 1/4 finals. After that, Kotsoyev defeated Nikolos Sherazadishvili (Spain) in the consolation match, and Sex-Yon Kim (South Korea) in the bronze medal fight.
