Azerbaijani judoka Zelim Kotsoyev (100 kg) started the European Championship in Tbilisi with a victory.
Idman.Biz reports that the athlete faced Nikola Pavlovski, a representative of North Macedonia, in the 1/16 finals and defeated his opponent to advance to the next stage.
Two more members of the Azerbaijani national team will compete today. Kenan Nasibov (+100 kg) and Madina Kaisinova (+78 kg) will join the fight in their respective weight categories.
It should be noted that the European Championship will end today. Previously, Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) won a silver medal, and Ahmad Yusifov (60 kg), Turan Bayramov (66 kg), and Zelim Tckaev (81 kg) won bronze medals.

In the 100 kg weight category, Kotsoyev will face Nikola Pavlovski, a representative of North Macedonia, in the 1/16 finals. In the +100 kg category, Nasibov will join the competition from the 1/8 finals and will face the winner of the duel between Mateo Akiana Mongo from France and Erik Abramov from Germany. In the +78 kg category, Kaisinova will test her strength against Russian Elis Startseva in the 1/16 finals.
