Azerbaijani judoka Zelim Tckaev (81 kg) has qualified for the semifinals in the individual competition of the World Championship held in Budapest, Hungary.
According to "Report", Tckaev, who defeated Chinese Tsiangnan Wang in the 1/16 finals, was superior to Brazilian Luan Almeida in the 1/8 finals.
The Azerbaijani judoka surpassed Japanese Yoonvan Lin in the 1/4 finals. Z. Tckaev will face the winner of the pair Arslonbek Tojiyev (Uzbekistan) - Timur Arbuzov (IJF) in the semifinals.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan is represented in the World Championship in 10 weight categories by 13 judokas (9 men, 4 women) in individual competitions. Our national team will also compete in the mixed team competition. Our judokas have not yet won a medal in the tournament.
