Men
Uşangi Kokauri (+100 kg) defeated Igor Vracar (Serbia) in the 1/32 finals, followed by Andy Granda (Cuba). He was superior to Minur Ertug (Turkey) in the 1/8 finals. Kokauri had his fourth match against Guram Tushishvili (Georgia), and the opponent won. Uşangi eliminated Lukáš Krpálek (Czech Republic) in the consolation match. He wrestled Temur Rakhimov (Tajikistan) for the bronze medal. Although our representative was leading with a waza-ari score, he fell into an ippon technique with 8 seconds left. Uşangi finished the world championship in 5th place.
It should be noted that Zelim Tckaev (81 kg), Eljan Hajiyev (90 kg) and Zelim Kotsoev (100 kg) have already won bronze medals among Azerbaijani judokas at the World Cup. Tomorrow, our national team will test its strength in the world championship among mixed teams.
