The World Judo Championship will start today in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
İdman.biz reports that three Azerbaijani judokas will compete on the first day of the World Championship.
World Championship
Men
60 kg
Ahmad Yusifov will wrestle against Ryuju Nagayama from Japan in the 1/16 finals.
Women
48 kg
Leyla Aliyeva (48 kg) started the fight from the 1/32 finals. She faced Kurbanay Kurbanova (Turkmenistan) and won. Our judoka will test her strength with Laura Martinez (Spain) in the second match.
Konul Aliyeva lost to Maria Laborde (USA) in the 1/32 finals.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team went to the World Championship with 13 judokas (9 men, 4 women) in 10 weight categories. Our team will also compete in the mixed team competition.
