Hidayat Heydarov faced Otari Kvantidze, originally from Georgia, representing Portugal, and stopped fighting after losing. The Olympic champion briefly wrote about this on his social network account: "Happy to be back."
Rashid Mammadaliyev, who competed in the same weight, defeated Kazbek Nagushev (UAE) and advanced to the next stage. Our judoka then defeated Georgian Lasha Shavdatuashvili. Our athlete, who lost to Baysangur Bagayev (Serbia) in the next match, had to compete for a bronze medal. Mammadaliyev, who lost to Tatsuki Ishihara in this competition, finished the World Championship in 7th place.

It should be noted that Azerbaijan is represented at the World Championship by 13 judokas in 10 weight categories.
