The first round of the U-16 judo tournament "Selection of Talents" started on February 14.
Idman.Biz reports that 187 judokas joined the competition on the first day of the competition held at the Absheron Olympic Sports Complex. Girls competed in the -40 kg, -48 kg, -57 kg, -70 kg; boys competed in the -50 kg, -60 kg, -73 kg and -90 kg weight categories.
It should be noted that the purpose of holding the "Selection of Talents" tournament is to form a healthy foundation for the national team, to identify prospective athletes for the national team and to form a sustainable reserve base. Athletes who are in the top 4 places in each weight category in the final ranking of 2 rounds will be involved in the "Hopes of the Future" training program.
