The Baku Championship among U-17 judokas started on October 13.
Idman.Biz reports that the winners and prize-winners in 5 weight categories were determined on the first day of the tournament held at the Absheron Olympic Sports Complex.
587 athletes (485 boys, 102 girls) from 61 clubs and sports societies will test their strength in the three-day competition.
The aim of the competition is to form a base of young judokas and to determine the athletes who will participate in the national championship based on quotas. The capital championship will also earn important ranking points for selection to the national team.
