Ukrainian judokas have refused to participate in the World Championship due to the permission for Belarusian athletes to perform under their own flags.
İdman.biz reports that the Ukrainian Judo Federation has decided not to send the national team to the World Championship in protest against the International Judo Federation's (IJF) decision to allow Belarusian athletes to compete with state symbols.
The organization's statement says: "The Ukrainian Judo Federation has officially been forced to make a decision not to send the national team to the World Championship. The Federation strongly condemns the IJF's decision and believes that this decision contradicts the fundamental principles of the global sports movement such as justice, responsibility and solidarity".
It should be noted that the World Judo Championship will be held in Budapest from June 13-20. Russian athletes will compete in this competition under the IJF flag.
