Farhad Rajabli (90 kg), an Azerbaijani judoka who won a gold medal at the European Veterans Championships held in Riga, the capital of Latvia, has evaluated his performance. Sport24.az reports that he made a statement about this to the official website of the European Judo Union (EJU).
Rajabli said he was happy to take first place in this competition for the 11th time:
"Everything went as I expected. All three of my opponents were strong. I prepared myself well for the tournament. The final match was especially memorable."
The 65-year-old veteran athlete emphasized that he has been practicing judo continuously since the age of 12:
"What motivates me is simple. Judo has been a part of my life for a long time. My relatives expect new medals from me. Sometimes they rejoice in these achievements more than I do. I don't do this for fame. I win medals for my love of judo and for my country. I always proudly represent Azerbaijan. This sport is not easy. But it has given me everything. I am grateful to judo for this."
It should be noted that Farhad Rajabli (90 kg) competed in the M-8 age category.
