"Azerbaijan is a country that hosts international competitions at a high level."
This was stated by the Minister of Sports of Georgia, Shalva Gogoladze, during the European Championship among adults held in Tbilisi.
The minister emphasized that the relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia are at a high level.
"We have friendly relations with Azerbaijan. I have made several official visits to Azerbaijan and met with my colleague Farid Gayibov there. These relations between our countries will continue in various directions, including in the field of sports, through events and competitions," he said in a statement to AZERTAC.
Shalva Gogoladze noted that both countries actively participate in sports competitions organized in each other:
"As Georgia, we participate in all competitions related to Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijani athletes also take part in events held in Georgia."
He expressed confidence that the world championship to be held in Baku at the end of the year will be organized at a high level: "I am sure that Azerbaijan will organize this championship at a very high level, as before."
It should be noted that Azerbaijan is represented by 15 judokas, including 9 men and 6 women, in the prestigious tournament that will last until April 19. Earlier, Hidayat Heydarov (73 kilograms) won a silver medal, and Ahmad Yusifov (60 kilograms) and Turan Bayramov (66 kilograms) won bronze medals.
