"This medal is the result of not only the competition, but also hard work and patience."
These words were said to AZERTAC by Azerbaijani judoka Rashad Yelkiyev, who won his first medal in the World Tour series.
The athlete, who competes in the 66-kilogram weight category, said that the bronze medal he won at the tournament held in Lima, the capital of Peru, is very valuable to him: "We analyzed the opponent I faced in the fight for third place well with our coaches. With this, the course and result of the meeting turned out as we wanted. I had prepared well for the tournament and, thank God, I saw the results. This was the first medal I won in the World Tour Series. It is very valuable to me. Together with our team, our goal is not only individual results, but also to represent the name of Azerbaijani judo at the highest level."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team completed the tournament with a total of seven medals, including two silver and five bronze.
