The issue of the impact of fasting on the physical fitness of athletes during the holy month of Ramadan has once again come to the fore.
İdman.Biz reports that the Azerbaijani national judo team will join the fight in the Big Helmet tournament, which will start tomorrow in Tashkent. In this regard, the executive vice-president of the federation, Rashad Rasul, spoke about the preparation process of athletes who fast in the team.
According to him, there are judokas fasting in the team, and their training process is under the supervision of a professional nutritionist, along with the coaching staff:
"There are athletes fasting in our team. Their training process is monitored by coaches and a professional nutritionist, and an individual nutrition program is developed for each of them. Thus, fasting does not interfere with preparation. On the contrary, it helps athletes maintain their weight and not go beyond their weight categories. As for competitions, participation in tournaments is considered a trip, and in this case, according to the rules, it is possible to temporarily abstain from fasting."
