The results achieved in the judo competitions of the III CIS Games are high.
This was stated by Rashad Rasul, Executive Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, in his statement to "Report".
He evaluated the performances of the judokas who competed at the III CIS Games:
"We took the second place in the medal standings after the Russian team in individual competitions. We highly appreciate the results. There were athletes competing in some weight categories from whom we expected a gold medal. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. This is sports, such things can happen. But we were pleased with the gold medals won in the 44, 48 and 52 kg weight categories in the girls' competition. I would like to especially mention Narmin Agamirzazade in 52 kg. She is 15 years old and very young. Narmin will still compete in the youth competitions for 2 more years. Approximately, our forecasts for the number of gold medals were correct. But there was 1 less gold medal."
R.Rasullu said that he believes that young athletes will represent Azerbaijan at a high level at the Olympic Games in the coming years:
"Even an athlete who cannot win a medal here today can adequately represent our country in major competitions in the coming years. Currently, teenagers are in a period of development. It may happen that an athlete who wins a gold medal today will leave professional judo in 2 years. All kinds of things can happen in sports. They need to work harder on themselves."
It should be noted that the judo competitions of the III CIS Games are held at the Goygol Olympic Complex. The team members finished the first day of the competition with 21 medals (5 gold, 7 silver, 9 bronze). Tomorrow, team judo competitions will be held.
