Today, the European Judo Championship among juniors started in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.
Idman.biz reports that 9 of our judokas in 6 weight categories took to the tatami on the first day of the competition.
Anar Guliyev, competing in the 50 kg weight category, took the highest step of the podium. He defeated German Julius Kitangava with an ippon in the final.
Rasul Alizade (55 kg) stood out with a successful result at the European Championship. He defeated Matteo Qualandini in the final and added another gold medal to the assets of our national team.
Gulshan Huseynova (44 kg) distinguished herself in the girls' competition. Our judoka won a bronze medal by defeating Fatma Zehra Meki (Turkey) in the match for third place.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team will be represented in the competition by 19 athletes (10 boys, 9 girls) in 14 weight categories in individual competitions.
Our team will compete in the mixed team competition on the last day of the tournament.
