The European Judo Championships in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, have concluded with the individual competitions.
Idman.biz reports that the Azerbaijani team finished the tournament with 5 medals.
Zelim Kotsoiev won the highest medal in our team. The winner of the Paris-2024 Olympics was limited to silver, losing only in the final. He lost to Ilia Sulamanidze (Georgia) in the decisive match.
4 more judokas of our team won bronze medals. Ahmad Yusifov (60 kg), Rashid Mammadaliyev (73 kg), Zelim Tckaev (81 kg) and Murad Fatiyev (90 kg) managed to take a place on the podium.
With this result, our team finished the European Championship in 10th place. The best result was achieved by the IJF team. Athletes competing under the flag of the International Judo Federation won 3 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medals. France (3-2-5) took second place and Georgia (2-2-0) took third place.
It should be noted that mixed team competitions will be held tomorrow at the continental championship.
