The opening ceremony of the Azerbaijan Judo Championship among women and men was held.
Idman.Biz reports that the event, which took place at the Baku Sports Palace, was attended by the heads of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, athletes and other guests.
First, the National Anthem was played. Then, the memory of the martyrs who died in the Patriotic War was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Azerbaijan's Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov spoke about the successes of Azerbaijani judokas in international competitions. He said that he believes in the success of athletes in the coming years and hopes that new judokas will be trained.
Rashad Rasul, Executive Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, said that the competition was successful. He emphasized that new judo halls are being opened in our country.
Then, a video about the successes of Azerbaijani judokas in 2025 was shown.
The event continued with an artistic part.
The competition started yesterday and 107 judokas in 7 weight categories competed for medals. In general, the fight will be held in 14 weight categories.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan Championship will end on December 7.
