The Azerbaijani judo team, which continues its preparations for the European Championship, held an open training session for the media today. Sport24.az reports that judokas from Bahrain, Morocco and Israel are also training together with the national team members.
The preliminary squad that will represent Azerbaijan at the European Championship has already been determined. The initial list includes a total of 15 judokas, including 9 men and 6 women. The final squad of the Azerbaijani national team will be announced shortly before the competition.
The preliminary squad of the national teams includes Balabay Aghayev, Ahmad Yusifov (both 60 kg), Turan Bayramov (66 kg), Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg), Zelim Tckaev, Omar Rajabli (both 81 kg), Murad Fatiyev (90 kg), Zelim Kotsoev (100 kg), Kanan Nasibov (+100 kg), Konul Aliyeva, Shafag Hamidova (both 48 kg), Leyla Aliyeva, Gultaj Mammadaliyeva (both 52 kg), Sudaba Aghayeva (70 kg), Madina Kaisinova (+78 kg).
At the European Championship, the athletes will be led by the head coach of the men's team Richard Trautmann, senior coaches Elkhan Mammadov, Elchin Ismayilov, Slavko Tekic and Robert Kravchik, as well as the head coach of the women's team Amina Abdellatif and senior coach Sacha Herkenrath-Wimar.
Nazim Umbayev, a member of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation's referee board and an A-category international referee, will also be among the representatives of justice at the tournament.
It should be noted that the European Judo Championship among adults will be held on April 16-19 in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. 409 judokas from 46 countries will compete for 14 sets of medals at the continental championship.
