The Open Judo Championship of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), dedicated to the memory of police officers and internal troops who died during anti-terrorist operations, has been held.
İdman.Biz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry that, along with police officers, special-ranked employees of other state bodies also tested their strength in the tournament organized by the Sports Society of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Special Rapid Response Police Regiment (SRRP).
Among those who watched the competition were family members of the martyrs, their parents, children, high-ranking employees of the Ministry and other state institutions, representatives of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation and other guests. Before the competition, the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who died for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was commemorated with a minute of silence, and the National Anthem was played.
Representatives of the martyrs' families emphasized that the dear memory of their sons who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland is always cherished and that they are always surrounded by the special care of the country's leadership.
Then the competitions started. The winning athletes were awarded medals, honorary diplomas and valuable gifts. The judo team of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was awarded a special cup for winning the championship.
