Khasan Khalmurzaev, the 2016 Olympic champion and Russian judoka, has announced his retirement from sports.
İdman.biz reports that the 31-year-old judoka stated that he is generally satisfied with his sports career.
"Although I had a goal to become a two-time Olympic champion. But I understand very well why I failed and I draw conclusions from it."
According to Khalmurzaev, he intends to work as a coach. He plans to open specialized schools with his twin brother Hussein: "Not everyone can be a good coach, but I want to try."
Khalmurzaev also won the European Championship in 2021, and won a bronze medal at the World Championship in 2017.
