"It is a great honor to represent Azerbaijani judo at the World Championship."
This was stated to Idman.biz by international judo referee Nazim Umbayev.
The international referee, who was appointed to the World Championship among adults for the first time in the history of Azerbaijani judo, shared his views on the competition: "It is both honorable and difficult. I am already in Budapest, we are holding pre-competition seminars. In general, referees in the ACF Tour must be prepared and constantly work on themselves. We also often participate in seminars, theoretical and practical training. Even when there are no competitions, we watch international competitions and get acquainted with the processes."
The referee stated that this appointment was a surprise for him: "I was hoping to get an invitation because I trusted myself. But I didn't expect it to happen this year. As you know, the World Championship will be held in Baku next year. Like athletes, referees are happy when they participate in international competitions."
It should be noted that this year's World Judo Championship will be held from June 13 to 20 in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
