Murad Fatiyev, the bronze medalist of this year's European Championship, competing in the 90 kg weight category, is facing a more serious problem than expected due to an injury sustained at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam tournament.
According to information provided to İdman.Biz from the Azerbaijan Judo Federation (ACF), Murad Fatiyev is out of action for at least eight weeks.
"Eight weeks is currently the minimum recovery period. We will do an MRI for him in two weeks and get accurate information about the severity of the injury. If the worst forecasts are confirmed, it means that he will not be able to participate in competitions for 6-9 months. In the best case, Fatiyev will recover in eight weeks," the federation said.
It should be reminded that our judoka, who won three consecutive victories in the tournament held in Abu Dhabi, reached the semi-finals. However, due to an injury sustained in the third match with Greek Theodoros Tselidis, he stopped the fight and withdrew from the tournament at the insistence of the doctors.
