MMA tournament dedicated to Ilham Aliyev's birthday was held

An MMA tournament dedicated to the birthday of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, was held with the organization of the Zeyd Fighting Center.

Lent.az reports with reference to Apasport.az that representatives of the public, presidents of federations, professional athletes and officials participated in the opening ceremony of the event organized on December 20 at the "Sarhadchi" Sports Complex.

First, the National Anthem was played and the dear memory of the martyrs was commemorated with a minute of silence.

Emin Aliyev, the president of ZFC, who made the opening speech, said that the tournament was dedicated to the birthday of President Ilham Aliyev, and on behalf of the Zeyd Fighting Center, he sincerely congratulated the head of state: "As a result of the attention and care shown by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief to sports, the city of Baku was declared the capital of world sports for 2026."

Emin Aliyev awarded Vugar Ahmadov, the president of the Azerbaijan Canoe and Rowing Federation, for his contribution to the development of sports, and thanked Ali Asgarov, the founder of the Zeyd Fighting Center, and Azad Asgarov, the president of the MMA and Grappling Federation, for their support in organizing the event.

Later, MPs Fazil Mustafa and Vugar Iskandarov noted that sports play an important role in the development of the country, especially in the healthy physical and moral development of young people.

It should be noted that 22 athletes participated in the tournament, and a total of 11 fights took place. At the end of the competition, athletes were awarded cash prizes of various amounts, and the winning athlete was awarded a cup and other awards
